Creating a Sanctuary at Home

You just had a car from Access Global drop you off at your new home. How exciting! Now, you want to think about ways to create your very own sanctuary in this new place.

We are offering some things to consider when creating a sanctuary at home!

Comfort and Peace

A sanctuary is a place for you to go and rest. Even if you are experiencing a troubled mind, you want this place to be where you can go to recenter and focus on all that is good and peaceful in your world.

With this in mind, you want to create your sanctuary to be an environment that is warm and nurturing. Include some soft tones and comfortable furniture or pillows throughout. You don’t need your sanctuary to take up an entire room, even just a small corner will suffice.

Don’t Limit Yourself

When it comes to your sanctuary, don’t hold back. If you think that something might not be necessary, but it’s a piece that brings you joy and happiness – include it! Remember that this is ultimately your space. Get creative!

It’s best to try and not overthink your sanctuary. It doesn’t need to be anyone else’s idea of perfection except your own. The great news is that you can also change it or rearrange it any time that you would like.

Keep it Clean

You want to keep your sanctuary clean. A clear space equates to a clear mind. You don’t need to stress yourself out about this too much. Just try and keep clutter or debris out of your sanctuary. Your sanctuary should be a place you only go to rest your mind and heart.

Keeping your personal sanctuary clean will immediately cause you some relief when you decide to visit it. You won’t be preoccupied with any messes that would be in there. Instead, you’ll be met with a tidy and neat space just for you to focus on finding your peace.

Fill it With What You Love

Fill your sanctuary with everything in the world that you love. This should be easy to do if you spend some time considering what makes you feel love and happiness. Tranquility and ease will fill your heart when you’re surrounded by what you love.

You can think outside of the box when it comes to what to include in your sanctuary. (Again, remember not to limit yourself.) If your family means a great deal to you, include some personal touches that remind you of them. If it’s wildflowers, try and regularly have them in your special place.

Cleanse the Room

Clean and pure energy is what you want in your sanctuary. You can do this by consistently cleansing the room. Some people choose to use sage, incense, or essential oils to cleanse a certain area. You can decide what works best for you.

If you don’t want to use anything to cleanse the room, you can always set your intention for it. Thoughts alone are incredibly powerful, so you can regularly chant certain cleansing mantras for your sanctuary.
