EPA Lead Renovator Certification Course:
The new EPA Criteria for Lead Renovator Certification will be in effect nationwide April 22, 2010. Any renovator offering or conducting renovation services in pre-1978 property will need to have one person per crew complete this training. This course will train renovation, repair, and painting contractors how to work safely in housing with lead-based paint and comply with the new EPA/HUD Guidelines. Topics covered: background of lead, health effects, regulations, lead safe work practices, cleaning verification, cleanup & disposal. Course is limited to 40 people. Registration and payment is required by March 19, 2010. 40 paid registrants by March 19 will be required in order for the class to go on.
4 hour Certified Renovator Refresher Course:
For individuals that have previously attended a one day HUD/EPA Lead course for HUD projects, a 4 hour refresher course will be required prior to April 22, 2010 in order to comply with the new rule. A minimum of 24 people and maximum of 32 people will be required in order to offer the class. One refresher class will be offered from 8am-noon. If that becomes full, an additional class from 1pm to 5pm will be offered. Course is $275/person. Proof of previous training will be required prior to March 19, 2010.
